japanese star trek doors?

Ok, so these people in japan seem to have taken an interesting twist on automatic doors. I can't imagin there being any benefit to such a system, but then again I don't see why people can't just hit a damned button.

I'm developing a new commercial site in my free time, and it will be using a good bit of javascript. I've been thinking of trying out some of the javascript unit test harnesses out there (obligatory list: Ghost Train, ecmaunit, jsunit, and another jsunit). Hopefully they will prove to useful additions to my web programming toolkit (vim+every browser available).
