classless reverse dns
Fri, Jul 8, 2005A week ago I found out that sbc will apparently provide reverse delegation of dns for static ip address ranges. That information prompted me to contact them and get the ball rolling. My sbc range 69.177.109.8/29 is now resolving to hasno.info thanks to classless reverse delegation (rfc 2317). The only snag was caused by the choice of delimiter on sbc's side, I had originally assumed / would be used and as it turned out they used a period instead which I was unaware of until checking the dns entries provided for 109.177.69.in-addr.arpa (whee!). I'm quite happy with this little bit of random garbage that will only server to somewhat legitimize my mail server (and if i really want to be a dork I can come up with some interesting hostnames for irc).
On another note, the powerbook is back and in full effect. The service center apparently felt it necessary to replace my screen along with the failed hard drive.
On the javascript front check out script.aculo.us, they have verious MIT licensed eye candy timesavers.
